“I’m tired of broken stories, Mom.”

"I'm tired of broken stories, Mom." I looked at my boy, and I could see the pain in his eyes. Since this statement, I see a man before me who follows the Lord, helps others, is a prayer warrior, and is honest, hardworking, and as good as the day is long. (I know I'm kind of partial...)

Yes, I have to agree with his sentiments lately. I'm very tired of broken stories. Are you feeling like this at all?

As I looked out the window and saw the birds delighting in the water puddle from the melted snow, I had to get pictures. The pure delight they demonstrated was moving. They had fought through the bitter cold, food hard to come by, and no house with a crackling fire in the fireplace...yet they were delighting in a "spa day" right after the bitter cold crept away.

I realized that in Psalm 23, we are reminded that "You, Lord, prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." (Psalm 23:5a NIV) Bird Translation: We are given a "spa day" in the midst of the winter cold. Time to partaaay!!!

In the middle of whatever "broken story" we are encountering, or perhaps we ARE the broken story of current, may we dine on the joy of the Lord. Easier said than done! Once again, I am speaking to my own soul, here. Care to join me?

Broken stories bring about heroes. Heroes wouldn't exist without broken stories. Both are necessary ingredients to bring about the most beautiful traits in the human heart. Heroes of the faith, the family, and our community are brought about in these dark places. If I am in the midst of a broken story myself, it is the divine invitation to allow hero characteristics to be fashioned in me. Light was meant for dark places! Otherwise, who needs light?

So, as these little birds were splashing away in the refreshing water as the frozen world began to awaken, may we splash and dine at the banquet table provided for us by our King. May we have the eyes to see where the table is even at some days!

Broken Stories...take a hike! Sounds like we just enrolled in the "Academy for Heroes".

Be blessed!!! And never, ever forget...His eye is on the sparrow. Thus, I know that He watches over me.
